The Pirate Party
As a group we decided that we would up load our
information onto a Google doc that way everyone could see the information and
also edit and put what they wanted into our presentation. I was the creator of
the doc and sent an email to the entire group trying to let everyone know about
the doc because this was my first one I wasn’t able to provide the information
on how to edit and do certain things on the web site. So a few of my group
mates decided that they would rather meet in public rather than try and do all
of the presentation online. Because I do know live near St. Cloud I was unable
to meet up with the group. Because I didn’t meet up with the group I sent an
email notifying that I was not going to be able to do so and told them that the
information that I found would be provided on the Google doc.
Nicole started a Power Point Presentation that we
all could see and then set up a day that a few people in our group would be
able to get together and create and better establish the power point.
Kayla, Brendan, and Scott were also able to get
together and meet up and look up information as well.
My group included:
JianLun Shen,
Kelly Jones, Matthew Mosolf, Nicole Nelson, Brendan Pucel, Kayla Rardin, and
Scott
The information that I provided my group with is as
fallows :
Pirates
promise is a rupture with the traditional structures of policy. But have not yet revealed how they are going to do this while in the parlement
Many say that the Pirates are the new Greens
Pirates have managed to overtake all the other self-defined protest-vote parties
the Pirates are not the first to call for direct instead of representative democracy.
The Pirates' most important slogan today is "liquid democracy"
They plan to use the internet as a form of direct democracy.
There push has also shown to have some effect on the parliament as well because they actually started airing debates live on tv and allowed for some input from general public.
There success some say is derived from how they work they let everyone participate literally everyone.
Since 2011 the party has succeeded in attaining a high enough vote share to enter four state parliaments in Germany
